"We
are playing 3 on 3 right now in camp. There is nothing better to teach
kids how to play thAn
3 on 3." Since the league’s inception back in 1986 my intent has been to provide local high school basketball players opportunity for growth and development through competing with or against adults from the community. The city schools have had this asset for decades with city parks and YMCA facilities nearby. The Maconaquah School Corporation has allowed me to rent facilities each year for the purpose of running the league. In 2008 several new stipulations were added in order for us to secure the use of the gym. Among the new mandates was an “age bracket” requiring separate divisions for participants over the age of 24 years. The league operated last summer under the new mandates. From my perspective, as director of the league, the age bracket demand has significantly increased the challenge of setting up the league schedules, conferences and tournament while simultaneously decreasing its value to the youth involved. Dialogue in hope of having the age bracket mandate lifted has recently ended and failed. Therefore, there will be no Mac3on3 this summer. I know several rock solid individuals who have served the league well for a number of years and I thank each of you for the integrity and modeling you have provided even after you turned 25. There are many other good men and women in this community who genuinely care beyond the game of basketball. I’ve appreciated serving you in this manner. Sincerely, Craig Miller and family
